Magnesium: Important for healthy functioning of the kidneys, muscles and heart.
Muscles Nerves and Bones
Magnesium and calcium work together. Calcium is only absorbed with the help of magnesium. Your muscles need to be able to pull in calcium in order to contract and pull out when they need to relax and magnesium helps perform this essential function. Magnesium also enables calcium to strengthen bones and teeth, keeping the skeletal system healthy.
Magnesium helps regulate and absorb nutrients in the body and a lack of magnesium in the body can result in serious deficiencies which cause illness and make you prone to infection and virus. A common trait of a magnesium deficiency is a vitamin D inefficiency which in turn creates a weak immune system.
The detoxification of cells is essential in your body because it gets rid of chemicals and compounds that you don’t need. Magnesium helps this process so that energy can be produced. Without this detoxification process, your body would not be able to properly create energy using the food that you eat.
Magnesium allows your body to regulate blood sugar properly. Diabetes can occur when your body does not properly regulate the amount of sugar in your body.

Magnesium has a surprisingly significant effect on migraines and headaches by helping to stop them from happening in the first place. This is a result of magnesium’s ability to make muscles relax. By making muscles and blood vessels relax, headaches that are a result of tension can be reduced altogether. You may still experience headaches, but you won’t have them as regularly as those who have a magnesium deficiency.
